In steelmaking, deoxidation and desulfurization directly determine steel quality. Residual oxygen and sulfur can reduce steel toughness and increase brittleness. Traditional deoxidation with ferrosilicon and magnesium desulfurization is cumbersome, with issues of incomplete deoxidation and high costs. Ferrosilicon-Magnesium-Ferroalloy, however, is the preferred choice due to its "one material, two benefits + manageable costs."

It achieves a "1+1>2" synergistic effect: silicon rapidly deoxidizes to form easily removable fine SiO₂ inclusions; magnesium efficiently desulfurizes, producing easily separable MgS, resulting in a 15%-20% higher desulfurization efficiency than traditional magnesium desulfurizers. The iron matrix also improves the alloy's melting point and fluidity, preventing pure magnesium burnout and ensuring uniform results.

Cost-effectively, it eliminates the need for staged additions, simplifying the process and reducing energy and labor costs. Its high unit efficiency allows it to use 8%-12% less magnesium than traditional alloy combinations for the same molten steel processing volume, reducing procurement costs. Today, driven by the steel industry's drive for cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and high-quality development, ferrosilicon-magnesium-iron alloys are finding widespread application. In the production of HRB400E rebar for construction, ferrosilicon-magnesium-iron alloys can stably control the sulfur content of molten steel to below 0.015%, meeting seismic requirements while reducing costs by 8-12 yuan per ton. In the smelting of Q355ND alloy steel for automotive chassis, ferrosilicon-magnesium-iron alloys' desulfurization benefits increase fatigue life by 10%, eliminating a separate desulfurization step and boosting production efficiency by 5%. In the processing of 20CrMnTi gear steel for machinery manufacturing, ferrosilicon-magnesium-iron alloys' deoxidation capabilities reduce inclusions and improve gear wear resistance by 15%. They have become crucial for balancing molten steel quality and cost, earning widespread industry recognition as a cost-effective option.
