Calcined petroleum coke

2025-09-19

Calcined petroleum coke is a carbonaceous material calcined at approximately 1300°C using petroleum coke as raw material. Petroleum coke is a hard, black or dark gray solid with a metallic luster and a porous structure. Its composition is 90%-97% carbon, 1.5%-8% hydrogen, and also contains nitrogen, chlorine, sulfur, and heavy metal compounds. Calcination removes volatiles and increases the degree of graphitization. It is primarily used in prebaked anodes and anode paste for aluminum electrolysis, as a recarburizer in the carbon industry, as graphite electrodes, in the smelting of industrial silicon, and as fuel.
